A bit about me and my approach:
Welcome! I’m Bri Dawkins, a counselor based in Boise, Idaho, and I’m glad you’re here!
Empathy, respect, and collaboration are at the heart of my practice. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where your thoughts, feelings, and experiences can be freely explored. I enjoy helping adolescents and adults in navigating depression and anxiety, relationship struggles, self-esteem, trauma, life transitions, LGBTQ+ concerns, and spiritual or religious challenges.
Working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities has deepened my understanding of the complexities of the human experience. Providing inclusive and affirming therapy is incredibly important to me, ensuring every client feels seen and respected.
I take a trauma-informed approach, tailoring treatment to each person’s needs, values, interests, and strengths—because there is no “one size fits all” in counseling. This may include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, relaxation and grounding techniques, exploring attachment styles and wounds, boundaries work, and improving communication skills. Some clients also enjoy incorporating creative arts, such as music or art, into sessions.
Outside of the counseling office, I enjoy hiking and camping in the mountains, making music, reading, and spending time with friends, family, and one very spoiled puppy. I am a firm believer that maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and taking care of myself, enriches my ability to connect with clients on a deeper level. In other words, I do my best to care for me, so that I can do my best to care for you.
